Genesis 13

chosen word
Verses 14~17

A title
The place I need to be is where God is,
where God's promises are,
where the word of God is

14
The LORD said to Abram after Lot had parted from him, "Lift up your eyes from where you are and look north and south, east and west.
15
All the land that you see I will give to you and your offspring forever.
16
I will make your offspring like the dust of the earth, so that if anyone could count the dust, then your offspring could be counted.
17
Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you."

Abram came from Egypt.
Abram went down to Egypt due to a famine in the land of Canaan, but it was not the land that God had promised.
Abram returned to the place where the first altar was built and called on the name of the Lord.
(Verse 4)
He said that the place where he should be is not in Egypt, but where God had a promise.
Abram left the land where God had promised and failed, but he returned to the place where God had promised.
When Abram and Lot's wealth increased and their shepherds quarreled with each other, Abram and Lot separated.
(Verse 8)
Lot's selection criterion was the land of Sodom and Gomorrah, which had material abundance.
(verse 10)
The criterion for choosing Lot's life was not whether it was a sinful place before God.
It's not about whether God has a promise or not.
He went there, looking only at material abundance.
However, Abram remained in the land of Canaan because the land of Canaan was not materially rich and barren, but because it is a place where God's promises are made and God's words are there.
(Verse 12)
When Abram chose to stay where God had promised, God spoke to Abram again.
I will give to you and to your descendants the north, east, west, and north of Abram's place, and it will last forever.
It was God's promise to make Abram's descendants as numerous as the dust of the earth. (Genesis 12:2)
Even at the age of 75, Abram, with his wife Sarai, had no children or descendants, and it seemed that his life was coming to an end.
But God said that your descendants will be as numerous as the dust of the earth (verse 16).
Abram believed and obeyed God's promises.
Abram's life selection criteria are where God is, where God's promises are, and where God's words are.

Today, as in Genesis 13,
where I should be
where God is,
where God's promises are,
This is where the word of God is.
Where I am today, even in my daily life
looking for God,
Pray to God in the Word,
We hope for God's promise and pray that we will live by faith in Jesus.
